Effective date: August 13, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of ChemPal ("the extension"), a free, open‑source browser extension that lets you search and compare laboratory chemical product listings across supported third‑party supplier websites. By installing or using the extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the extension.
Short version: ChemPal is a free search-and-comparison tool, not a seller or marketplace. It shows information pulled from third‑party suppliers and public databases that may be inaccurate or out of date, so always confirm details on the supplier's own site before buying. You are solely responsible for complying with all laws that apply to the chemicals you search for, purchase, possess, and handle, and for using them safely. The extension is provided "as is," with no warranty.
By downloading, installing, or using ChemPal, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by the Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to every version of the extension unless a later version is accompanied by updated Terms.
ChemPal is a client‑side tool that sends the searches you enter to third‑party supplier websites and public chemistry services, then displays and normalizes the results (for example, converting prices to your chosen currency and quantities to a common unit) so you can compare listings.
ChemPal is not:
The extension merely helps you find and compare listings that already exist on third‑party sites, the same way you could by visiting those sites yourself.
You may use ChemPal only if you can form a legally binding contract and are of the age of majority in your jurisdiction. You are responsible for ensuring that you are legally permitted to search for, purchase, possess, and handle any chemical you use the extension to find. ChemPal does not verify your identity, age, eligibility, or authorization.
Product listings, prices, quantities, availability, purity, chemical identifiers (such as CAS numbers and formulas), safety documents, and other data shown in ChemPal originate from third‑party suppliers and public databases and are provided to you without independent verification. This information may be incomplete, out of date, or incorrect. Currency conversions use live exchange rates and are estimates only; you pay the supplier's price in their currency at checkout.
Always confirm every material detail — price, quantity, identity, availability, and safety information — on the supplier's own listing before making any purchase or handling decision. ChemPal does not guarantee that any information it displays is accurate, current, or complete.
Chemicals can be hazardous, and their sale, purchase, possession, transport, use, and disposal are regulated by laws that vary by location. You are solely responsible for:
ChemPal does not assess or verify the legality, safety, suitability, or regulatory status of any product, and does not endorse or recommend any product or supplier. Surfacing a listing is not a representation that the product is legal for you to buy or safe for you to use. You assume all risk arising from your use of any chemical you find through the extension.
Nothing in ChemPal constitutes chemical, scientific, safety, medical, legal, or financial advice. The extension is an informational tool only. Consult a qualified professional before relying on any information for a decision that could affect health, safety, or legal compliance.
Any purchase you make is solely between you and the supplier, governed by that supplier's own terms, policies, and pricing. ChemPal is not involved in and is not responsible for any aspect of a transaction, including ordering, payment, taxes, shipping, delivery, product quality, returns, refunds, or disputes. Any issue with an order must be resolved directly with the supplier.
ChemPal contacts and links to third‑party websites and services (suppliers, public chemistry databases, a currency exchange‑rate service, GitHub, and others described in the Privacy Policy). The developer does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, terms, or data practices of those third parties. Your use of any third‑party service is subject to that party's own terms and policies.
You agree not to use ChemPal to:
You are responsible for your own conduct and for any consequences of it.
ChemPal is free and open‑source software. Your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the extension's source code are governed by the license in its repository:
Product names, listings, images, logos, and trademarks displayed in results belong to their respective suppliers or owners. ChemPal claims no ownership of that content and displays it solely to help you compare listings.
The extension is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non‑infringement. The developer does not warrant that the extension will be uninterrupted, error‑free, secure, or that any information it displays is accurate or current. You use the extension at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the extension, any product you find through it, or any third‑party service — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. ChemPal is provided free of charge; to the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer's total liability for all claims relating to the extension will not exceed zero dollars (US$0).
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the extension, any chemical or product you obtain through it, or your violation of these Terms or any applicable law.
Your use of the extension is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which explains what data the extension handles and where it goes.
These Terms may be updated as the extension evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and publishing the revised Terms in the extension's repository. Your continued use of the extension after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
You may stop using ChemPal at any time by uninstalling it. The developer may modify, suspend, or discontinue the extension, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including Accuracy of information, Chemical safety and legal compliance, Disclaimer of warranties, Limitation of liability, and Indemnification — will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to its conflict‑of‑law provisions. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
